WHAT IS IT ?

Reikis therapies are based on the application of Universal Life Force Energy
the name literally means "Universal Life Force Energy".

WHAT HAPPENS AT A HEALING?
A healing is very simply performed.
The practitioner places his or her hands upon the person to be healed
with the intent for healing to occur,
the energy begins to flow.
energy knows where to go, and what to do once it gets there, or else is
being directed by a higher intelligence.
The energy manages its own flow to and within the recipient
It draws through the healer exactly that amount of energy which the recipient
needs.
All this happens without direct conscious intervention by the healer.
The healers job is to get out of the way, to keep the healing space open,
and to watch for signs of what to do next.

Reiki Symbol
Symbols are keys that open doors to a higher mind.
it is believed that the symbol has the ability to override the user's precognition that some things cannot be possible.(ie believing in energy healing, universal energy and such)
The symbols trigger a belief or intention built into the symbols that helps the user to get the results intended and connect the person using them to the universal life force.
There is some disagreement as to the secrecy of these special symbols . Some believe they should be kept secret some say it is ok to display these symbol widely.
Many Masters consider the symbols holy and persist in the old tradition that they must be kept secret. The symbols should only be available to those who have been initiated at the Reiki 2 level.
I believe it is up to everybody to choose their own opinion

Attunment
When a Master gives an attunement to a student he/she shows the reikis symbols to a student.
The shape of the symbol is impressed upon the students mind and merges with the energies it represents.
When the student and later practitioner visualizes or thinks about a symbol later it will instantly connect to the energies it represents.
The symbols are partly based on a Japanese writing system called Kanji. They should be drawn or visualized as they have been taught during the no 2 Attunement.
There are a variety of shapes introduced as more and more people are attuned and more and more masters evolve their own style.
There is no right or wrong way to draw them, as symbols given to a student at the attunment will work regardless of varying shapes as they incorporate the intention and the connection to the energies it represents and thus enable a connection
